The Community Foundation’s staff and advisors

giving options. We can:
- Answer questions on charitable giving, regardless of whether a gift
to or through the Foundation is contemplated.
- Discuss a particular situation to review charitable opportunities and challenges.
- Offer counsel on designing a charitable plan which accomplishes your
client’s
charitable interests and the needs of their family and loved ones in the
most tax economic way, including:
- reduction of income or estate taxes through outright giving, testamentary
giving, use of charitable life income plans to divert income to lower tax-bracket
family members or loved ones, or use of charitable lead trusts to reduce income
and/or estate tax.
- using charitable life income plans to supplement retirement income for
your client or loved ones.
- using charitable life income plans to diversify investments without realization
of long-term capital gain.
- using charitable life income plans to supplement special needs trusts for
family members with legal disabilities.
- Offer counsel on choosing among the charitable life income plans to determine
the best plan to use, including
- the type of funding asset
- the payout rate and payment schedule desired
- the age of the income beneficiaries and their relationship to the donor
- whether tax-favored income is desired
- the importance of income and/or estate taxes savings
- Provide illustrations and
projections of charitable value, cash flow and tax character to income beneficiaries,
and payout to remainder beneficiaries.
- Offer counsel on the public charity options
to private family or corporate foundations, including donor advised funds and
supporting organizations.
- Draft charitable documents for review by counsel or
review documents prepared by others.
