The Kosciusko County Community Foundaiton held its 2011 Annual Meeting earlier today at the North Webster Community Center. Board President, Jerry Yeager, shared highlights of the fiscal year, July 1, 2010 - June 30, 2011, including: * Over $1.7 million in grants were awarded from all funds. * Of those grants, $514,000 were in scholarships to 224 students. * Financial assistance from Good Samaritan Fund totaled over $245,000 to individuals facing a medical difficulty. * Over $17,000 in educational grants at the recommendation of our youth philanthropy group, KEYS. * Nearly $68,000 in grants made possible by Kosciusko REMC members who rounded up their monthly electric bills to benefit the Kosciusko REMC Opeartion Round up Fund held at the Community Foundation. * 40 indviduals were recognized for their service to others at our annual Heart of Gold reception. * 209 volunteers helped us fulfill our mission to make donor dreams shine for the good of our community. * 100% of our board and staff financially supported the work of the Foundation during the year. A Slate of Officers of the Foundation Board was approved including: * President, Jerry Yeager * Vice President, Craig Tidball * Secretary, Mindy Truex * Treasurer, Alan Alderfer * Executive Director, Suzanne Light Retiring board members, David Grossnickle and Cindy Zehr, were recognized for their service. Deb Bishop, Heart of Gold recipient, spoke about the impact volunteer service has had on her life and encouraged all in attendance to give of their time and talent to causes they care about. Young philanthropists, Alli & Avery Grimm and Audrey Turley were presented with certificates of appreciation for their fundraising efforts with the Kosciusko County Riley Kids Fund, a fund held at the Community Foundation. Suzie Light ended the meeting with a "kiss goodnight" announcement about the 11-11-11 match promotion. Beginning at 11 a.m. on 11-11-11, the Community Foundation will match any gift made through the Help Your Community page located on the Foundation's website, up to $11,011.11. Help Your Community is a way for people to connect to local charitable needs and make a difference. She expressed that Every Gift Matters.
