KERLIN MOTOR COMPANY SUPPORTS KC RILEY KIDS FUND

The Kerlin Motor Company, located in Silver Lake, Indiana, recently presented the Kosciusko County Community Foundation with a $2,000 donation for the Kosciusko County Riley Kids Fund. The gift will help the fund achieve its purpose to support Riley Children's Hospital and to provide financial assistance to Kosciusko County families with a child receiving medical treatment from Riley.

Rick Kerlin, owner of Kerlin Motor Company said, "My wife, Diane, and I spent two and a half months at Riley when our daughter was born and have made many return visits. We are very aware of the challenges and needs of families with a child at Riley. The Kosciusko County Riley Kids Fund is a valuable resource for families with children at Riley and we are very happy to make this contribution. Our community is very fortunate to have Riley Hospital and Kosciusko County Riley Kids Fund and they both need everyone’s support."

RILEY KIDS FUND MATCHED SUCCESSFULLY

KOSCIUSKO CO., IN – The Kosciusko County Riley Kids Fund, held at the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, recently received a matching grant of $50,000 from the K21 Health Foundation. In less than two months, generous community members raised the initial $50,000. Gifts came in all sizes, from corporate gifts to children collecting nickels and dimes in their neighborhoods.

MATCHING GRANT AND SPECIAL EVENT WILL HELP LOCAL KIDS TREATED BY RILEY

KOSCIUSKO CO., IN – A new fund to benefit children and their families served by Riley Children’s Hospital got a matching boost worth up to $50,000 from K21 Health Foundation this week. The Kosciusko County Riley Kids Fund, held at the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, was established by business partners, Alan Alderfer and Mike Bergen, of Alderfer Bergen and Company. Both Alderfer and Bergen have had children served by Riley. Bergen’s son, Ben, has fully recovered from his medical condition. Alderfer’s daughter, Katherine, continues her journey with the help of Riley and its medical team. Alderfer and Bergen’s goal is to raise $100,000 for the fund. K21’s dollar for dollar matching gift will double qualifying donations to the fund, up to $50,000.

BENEFIT RAISES $50,000 FOR RILEY KIDS FUND

KOSCIUSKO CO., IN – The concert and dinner benefit held on August 12 at Noa Noa and Spikes to raise money for the newly established Kosciusko County Riley Kids Fund netted $25,000 according to event organizers. That $25,000 will be matched by the K21 Health Foundation for a total of $50,000 raised for the fund.

Community Foundation Announces Lilly Scholars
The Kosciusko County Community Foundation is pleased to announce the 2009 Lilly Endowment Community Scholars (LECS). This award provides full tuition, required fees and a special allocation of up to $800 per year for required books and equipment toward an undergraduate degree at any accredited college or university in Indiana. The 2009 recipients are Chase Byerly and Amy Green, both of Warsaw Community High School.

Nearly 60 years ago, Savina Kralis received her nurses training from the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ in Gary, Indiana. Her education benefitted her during the time she served as a nurse, and also as she raised 12 children with her husband, Jerry.
