Kenneth and Lela Harkless Foundation Endowment Fund

Established by the Kenneth and Lela Harkless Foundation to provide support for many charitable organizations in Syracuse. Kenneth was a World War I pilot, talented engineer and founder of the Wawasee Boat Company, which became a cornerstone of the local economy. He served as director of the State Bank of Syracuse and was a dedicated Rotary member. Lela, a lifelong resident of Lake Wawasee, inspired Kenneth’s deep connection to the community and was his partner in philanthropy and preservation. Kenneth and Lela were married 61 years and devoted their lives to nurturing Syracuse, leaving a legacy of service, creativity, and community pride.
