Piggy Possibilities: Helping Kids, Help Kids

Press Releases

Posted by: Molly Kissling 8 months ago

What is Piggy Possibilities?

A program at the Kosciusko County Community Foundation that inspires kids to help others – especially other kids. Participants will receive a blue or pink piggy bank to donate their dollars and cents as they learn about philanthropy and generosity.

Who can participate?

Any child under the age of 18 can participate with the piggy banks. It’s never too early to become a philanthropist! Kids from outside of Kosciusko County are welcome to participate, but the money donated will help to support kids in Kosciusko County. Adults are also welcome to participate, but won’t be given a piggy bank.

How do we participate?

Step 1: Get your piggy bank (that you get to keep) from one of the pick-up locations.

Step 2: Watch the videos on our YouTube channel.

Step 3: Collect money in your piggy bank to turn into the Community Foundation before Saturday, November 15 for a small prize!

Step 4: Follow our Facebook and Instagram pages to get reminders about the program, unique challenges, and fun facts about philanthropy.

Why collect money?

Every cent collected will go towards the organization(s) that you choose that helps kids in our community. Each organization will get a matching grant of up to $500 from KEYS, the Community Foundation’s youth pod. So, your donation is doubled! The three organizations are: Junior Achievement, Boomerang Backpacks, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Is there a minimum donation?

Piggy Possibilities isn’t about how much money a child gives—it’s about inspiring the next generation to choose generosity! Every gift matters, no matter the size of the gift or the age of the giver.

How do we turn in our donation?

Donate HERE, mail in the money using the envelope you received with your piggy bank (make sure to include your name, your child’s name, and which of the organization(s) they would like to donate to), or bring your money into the Community Foundation for a small prize! Donations made online will be evenly distributed among the three nonprofits including Junior Achievement, Boomerang Backpacks, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

When does it take place?

The official program runs from August 1 to November 15, but you can begin whenever you’d like. Friday November 14 will be the last day to donate in-person, but you can still donate online on Saturday, November 15.
