At Grossnickle Eye Center (GEC), caring for people extends far beyond the exam room. Through The Grossnickle Foundation, a Donor Advised Fund at the Community Foundation, employees have a unique opportunity to support causes they care about most.
“When employees have a reason to give and a way to get involved, incredible things can happen,” said Josh Gordon, COO; CFO at GEC.
The Grossnickle Foundation was created by funds from Doctors Paul, Steve, and Bruce Grossnickle with the purpose of giving back. Today, the fund is an employee-driven fund that supports nonprofit organizations in communities where GEC has a presence.
Each January, employees are invited to submit grant recommendations for nonprofits that are meaningful to them. An employee committee, not company owners, review requests and determine how funds will be distributed. Employees can also contribute through payroll deduction, with gifts of any size, to increase the community impact.
The result is more than charitable giving. Employees become both donors and grant advisors, supporting organizations where they volunteer or have personal connections. Grants have supported organizations ranging from Senior Services to school-based initiatives, to local programs serving families in need.
For GEC employees, the fund provides the opportunity to make a difference. To learn more about corporate giving, call 574-267-1901.
