Kosciusko County 4-H Horse & Pony Club supports the futures of its students through scholarship fund
The Kosciusko County 4-H Horse & Pony Club recently established a scholarship fund for students who graduate from the program.
“The club teaches its members the value of hard work,” said Charity Trump, co-leader of the Horse & Pony Club. “We wanted to use this opportunity to give back to them and reward that hard work as they focus on their future career.”
The Kosciusko County 4-H Horse & Pony Club is for students from third grade to 12th grade. They hold auctions, host shows and win awards, all while learning teamwork and responsibility. “Our 4-H kids inspire each other to strive to do great things,” Trump said. “They become friends with each other through 4-H and then keep in touch for years after their time is done.”
The scholarship fund will spur students on in their careers after high school. Some become veterinarians, nurses, diesel mechanics; other choose careers in law or engineering. Ultimately, the Horse & Pony Club hopes that the students will return to Kosciusko County and pour into the next generation.
“One key reason we chose to set up our scholarship through the Community Foundation is the ease in applying,” Trump said. “An applicant can fill out one application and then can be matched with multiple scholarships. We saw this as an opportunity for our members to be introduced to opportunities that they may not have known about. We also have confidence that our scholarship will be in the hands of trusted individuals who truly care about the community we all live in,” Trump added.
When asked what message the Horse & Pony Club would tell future generations of 4-H students, Trump said, “Through hard work and planning, you can choose whatever you want in life. Only you can choose which path you should follow because no one can do the work for you.”
